First grade students are getting hands-on with grammar this month as they explore the world of nouns—specifically, people, places, things, and animals. To bring their learning to life, students used toilet paper rolls and a variety of craft materials to create colorful representations of each type of noun.
The classroom was filled with creativity and excitement as students transformed simple materials into their nouns. The project gave students the opportunity to not only learn about nouns, but also to express their understanding in a fun and artistic way.
“Our goal was to make grammar meaningful and memorable,” said first grade teacher Lenore Williams. Along with fellow teachers Erica Howe and Emily Wilson, the first grade team used the activity to combine academic learning with creativity and hands-on engagement.
The result? A room full of proud smiles—and plenty of adorable noun characters!
