kindness box

Farm Hill Elementary is embracing a wave of kindness through the launch of the Farm Hill Kindness Box, an initiative aimed at fostering a supportive and uplifting school environment. Spearheaded by the Kindness Club and overseen by Mrs. Whitaker, the School Social Worker, the Kindness Box invites students and staff alike to share messages of gratitude and recognition for the good deeds they’ve witnessed throughout the school day.

Located in two high-traffic areas—by the gym and Lost and Found in the front foyer, and in the upstairs alcove near the third-grade classrooms—the Kindness Box provides an accessible place for students, teachers, and staff to write down their acknowledgments. Whether it's praising a classmate for helping with a difficult task, recognizing a teacher's support, or simply thanking someone for a smile, these notes of appreciation are a reminder of the positive actions happening all around the school.

The idea behind the Kindness Box is simple yet powerful: small gestures of kindness can have a big impact. "We wanted to create a space where anyone in our school community could recognize each other for the positive things they do, big or small," says Mrs. Whitaker. "Kindness is contagious, and we hope this initiative will encourage others to continue spreading positivity."

Messages placed in the Kindness Box are collected regularly, and the notes are shared in various ways, including school-wide announcements or displayed in common areas for everyone to enjoy. It’s a reminder that a simple thank-you or acknowledgment can brighten someone’s day and make the school a more supportive, friendly place for everyone.

Students have responded enthusiastically to the initiative, with many already dropping off their messages of thanks and appreciation. The Kindness Club, which helped launch the program, plans to continue its efforts to promote kindness through other activities and events throughout the year.

With positive feedback from both students and staff, the Farm Hill Kindness Box is off to a heartwarming start. As the school year continues, it’s clear that the initiative is making an impact, one kind word at a time.

If you’d like to take part in spreading some kindness, simply drop a message in one of the Kindness Boxes around the school. After all, every little act of kindness helps to build a community of care.
